Meadows & Ohly Announces Leadership Changes
ATLANTA, GA - On January 1, 2019, a planned leadership transition was implemented to position the firm to continue its long history of innovative service to the healthcare real estate marketplace.
Tom Rhodes, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer since 2012, passed the CEO role to John Carter. Mr. Rhodes has been with the firm for 32 years and was responsible for setting the strategic direction of the organization as M&O has grown into a perennial top 5 healthcare real estate development firm in the U.S. He will retain the role of Chairman and focus on the strategic advisory and investment activities of the firm. Mr. Carter joined M&O in 1997 and was named Chief Operating Officer in 2015. John has been instrumental in leading the growth of the M&O management and leasing platform into one of the premier management organizations in the healthcare real estate industry. He will set the firm’s strategic agenda and focus on growing the M&O real estate portfolio.
Van Fletcher, Chief Financial Officer, will retire after 24 years with the firm. Throughout his career with M&O, Mr. Fletcher has provided leadership over the firm’s development, financing and acquisition activities. Jay Bowling has been named as the new M&O CFO. Mr. Bowling, a CPA, joined the firm in 2003, led the organization’s expansion into the Charlotte and Jacksonville markets and has been active in business development, acquisitions, project development and strategic advisory work for a variety of health systems. Jay will continue his strategic work with clients in addition to his CFO responsibilities.
Jeff Brown, who joined the firm as a Partner in January 2018 to lead M&O’s Strategic Advisory Practice and Market Development activities, has been named Chief Strategy Officer. Mr. Brown will lead the firm’s efforts to expand into new markets, enhance its advisory capabilities and support the strategic growth and innovation platform.
“Beginning with the first leadership transition from our company founders, Jim Meadows and Carl Ohly, made years ago, we have been intentional about identifying leaders within the organization and industry to serve our clients with excellence and support our firm’s growth and development. John, Jay and Jeff, together with partners, Parker Chambliss and Chris Hauck, will build on M&O’s 47-year track record of success. We are excited about the direction, growth and opportunities ahead in 2019 and beyond for our organization”, said Tom Rhodes when announcing the leadership team.
